Worm Bedding Mix
Give your worms a comfortable start with our ready-to-use Worm Bedding Mix, designed to create the loose, moisture-retentive environment composting worms need to settle in and thrive.
Made from a blend of fine coco coir and coco husk chips, the mix provides a balance of moisture retention and structure. The fine coir holds moisture around the worms, while the husk chips help maintain airflow and prevent the bedding from becoming overly compacted. One bag of our ready-to-use bedding provides enough material to create a suitable starter bedding layer in a standard worm farm tray.
Ideal for:
- Setting up a new worm farm or bin
- Adding fresh bedding when harvesting castings
- Refreshing bedding that has become dense or heavily processed
- Creating a comfortable bedding layer when moving or dividing a worm population
Why coco coir?
Coco coir is lightweight, absorbent and slow to compact, making it well suited to worm farming. It helps maintain an evenly moist environment while still allowing air to move through the bedding.
How to use
Fluff the bedding to keep it loose, mist if necessary (it should feel like a wrung-out sponge — evenly moist, but not dripping wet), add it to your worm farm, and introduce your worms. A small amount of mature worm-farm material or finished compost can also be mixed through the fresh bedding to introduce beneficial microorganisms.
Suitable for red wigglers (Eisenia fetida) and other composting worm species.
