Description
Feed Lime (Calcium Carbonate) for Worm Farms
Create the ideal environment for healthy, productive worms with our Feed Lime (Calcium Carbonate)—a gentle, natural pH buffer designed specifically to keep worm bedding balanced, comfortable, and thriving.
Acidic conditions can quickly develop in a worm farm due to decomposing food scraps, moisture, and natural microbial activity. This can lead to sour smells, stressed worms, slow reproduction, and unwanted pests like white mites. Feed Lime neutralises acidity safely, creating a stable habitat where worms can eat, breed, and produce nutrient-rich castings at their best.
🌿 Why Worm Farms Need Feed Lime
✔ Balances pH in the Bedding
Worms thrive in a pH range of 6.5–7.5. Feed Lime helps maintain this balance as food breaks down and creates acidic pockets in the bedding.
✔ Supports Worm Health & Reproduction
Correct pH improves worm activity, egg capsule production, and overall population growth.
✔ Reduces Odours and “Sour Bedding”
Prevents the fermentation smell caused by decaying acidic food scraps.
✔ Controls Mites and Improves Bin Hygiene
Acidic environments attract mites. Lime creates an uninviting environment for them while remaining perfectly safe for worms.
✔ Safe, Non-Caustic Formula
Made from pure agricultural-grade calcium carbonate—NOT hydrated or quicklime.
Safe for worms, microbes, and castings production.
🪱 How to Use Feed Lime in a Worm Farm
Maintenance Application (Regular Use)
Sprinkle 1–2 tablespoons per 30cm x 30cm of bedding.
Apply every 2–4 weeks to keep the bin balanced.
Lightly mix into the top 2–3 cm of bedding or dust lightly over food scraps.
When Adding New Bedding
Mix 1–2 cups of lime into a full worm bin’s worth of new bedding (paper, coco peat, manure, leaves).
Moisten the bedding and let it rest for a few hours before adding worms.
As a Food Buffer
Add a light pinch of lime over food scraps before covering with bedding.
Helps prevent acidic pockets caused by fruit and vegetable waste.
